Where Roon fits, and where it falls short

Roon pairs 80 mg caffeine with 60 mg L-theanine, Dynamine, and TeaCrine for a stated 6 to 8 hour window. Zero nicotine, zero sugar, as little as $0.61 per pouch.

Where it falls short: it contains caffeine, so it is the wrong pick if you chose Ultra Focus to avoid caffeine. It comes in one flavor (Cool Mint) against five for each brand here, has no single tin (one-time orders are multi-tin packs, or subscribe), is sweetened with sucralose, and has no Amazon listing.

How this comparison was made

Both brands' product pages, store JSON, and FAQs, checked November 7, 2026. Ultra's supplement facts from its Amazon listing. Sett does not publish a pouch count; we used 15, from the California DOJ Unflavored Tobacco List ("15 ct Can") and the 5-pack's "75 servings" label. Per-pouch = price / 15. We did not lab-test any of these products or run any use test of our own. Roon makes a competing pouch and this page links to it.

Does Sett have nicotine?

Sett says no nicotine is intentionally added; Sett's FAQ notes the product may contain extremely small traces. A January 2026 JAMA Network Open case series (Ciancio et al.) tested four Sett products bought in April 2025 (two flavors, 3 and 6 mg) and found trace nicotine (0.04 to 0.06 mg per pouch) and 6-methylnicotine (0.31 to 0.61 mg per pouch) in every one. The authors wrote that this contradicts nicotine-free claims and that 6-methylnicotine lacks clinical research to inform doses safe for human consumption. Sett's product page states Ceretine "also has addictive potential," and California's DOJ lists it as a "Portioned Analog Product."

Paraxanthine vs Ceretine: what each one does

Paraxanthine is what your liver produces when it breaks down caffeine. Ultra uses a patented version called Enfinity and claims a "25% shorter half-life vs. caffeine." See how paraxanthine differs from caffeine.

Ceretine is a synthetic alkaloid that Sett calls "similar in structure to nicotine, yet chemically distinct." It binds nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, which is why Sett markets it as providing "nicotine-like satisfaction." Sett says Ceretine passed its own in vitro and in vivo toxicity tests; the JAMA authors, who found 6-methylnicotine in every Sett pouch, wrote that 6-methylnicotine lacks clinical research to inform doses safe for human consumption.

Price per pouch and per hour

Formula: price per pouch = can price / 15. Cost per hour = price per pouch / brand-stated hours.

Sett wins on per-pouch cost at every tier. Ultra is the only one that publishes a duration (1 to 2 hours), making it the only one where cost per hour is calculable.

Roon is not the cheapest here. Its case is duration: methylliberine (Dynamine) slows caffeine clearance. A crossover PK study (n = 12) found 100 mg methylliberine with 150 mg caffeine extended caffeine's half-life from 7.2 to 15 hours (Mondal et al., 2022), though that study dosed 4x Roon's methylliberine and ~1.9x its caffeine. Roon's stated window is 6 to 8 hours, about $0.08 to $0.10 per hour at $0.61. Neither Sett nor Ultra contains caffeine, so per-mg caffeine math does not apply here.

Safety data are thin. The JAMA authors, who detected 6-methylnicotine in every Sett pouch they tested, wrote that it lacks clinical research to inform doses safe for human consumption; Sett says its own in vitro and in vivo toxicity tests found Ceretine non-carcinogenic and non-mutagenic. Sett's site says Ceretine "also has addictive potential" and restricts purchases to adults 21+. It is not for anyone under 21 or pregnant or nursing, and if you have a heart condition or take medication, talk to your clinician before using it.

Does Ultra Focus have caffeine?

No. Ultra Focus is caffeine-free, built around 100 mg Enfinity paraxanthine. Ultra's separate Energy line contains 180 mg caffeine per pouch and is a different product.

How long does Sett last?

Sett does not publish an effect duration. Its FAQ says effects begin within 5 to 10 minutes and most people keep a pouch in for 30 to 60 minutes. Without a stated duration, you cannot compare longevity against Ultra's 1 to 2 hour claim.

Can you use Sett and Ultra together?

Neither brand publishes interaction data or stacking guidance. Sett acts on nicotinic receptors; Ultra Focus acts through paraxanthine. Ask a clinician before combining oral supplements.
