The technology of Roon
Measured, not marketed.
Roon’s formula combines four naturally-occurring nootropic compounds: 80 mg caffeine, 60 mg L-theanine, 25 mg methylliberine (Dynamine™), and 5 mg theacrine (TeaCrine™) per pouch. Together they deliver fast-onset focus that sustains for 6–8 hours without crash. Below: a quiet account of what each compound does, how we measured the effect, and what we’re still working to understand. No proprietary mystery, no overstated claims, just the four ingredients, the curve they hold, and the data we recorded.
01 · The formula
A quartet, not a stack.
Most nootropic stacks are a Christmas tree of ingredients, each at a sub-threshold dose. Roon is four. Each chosen because it actually does what it says, and because together their curves overlap to hold a steady ceiling for hours.
Roon’s four compounds, caffeine, L-theanine, theacrine (TeaCrine™), and methylliberine (Dynamine™), were chosen because each has, independently, the strongest evidence base for a specific window of cognitive action, and because, together, they hold a steady ceiling instead of a spike.
Each pouch delivers 80 mg of caffeine (about one small cup of coffee) alongside 60 mg L-theanine, 25 mg methylliberine as Dynamine™, and 5 mg theacrine as TeaCrine™ (from a 40% material). Caffeine and Dynamine™ open the focus window: caffeine blocks adenosine, the molecule that builds across the day and tells your brain you’re tired, while Dynamine™ kicks in fast and stays active longer than caffeine on its own. TeaCrine™ carries the back half of the curve, acting on the same adenosine and dopamine pathways caffeine uses but tapering gently, so focus doesn’t end in a crash. L-theanine, the calming amino acid in green tea, promotes alpha brain waves (the EEG signature of relaxed attention), smoothing the rough edges caffeine usually brings.
No nicotine. No proprietary mystery. Nothing that puts a check on tomorrow.
The foundation
Blocks adenosine, the “tired” signal that builds across your day. 80 mg per pouch (about one small cup of coffee), paired with Dynamine™ so focus stays steady longer than caffeine alone, without crossing into jitter territory.
The balancer
60 mg per pouch. The amino acid in green tea that promotes alpha brain waves, the EEG signature of relaxed, focused attention. Smooths the sharp edges caffeine would otherwise bring: clear, calm, not wired.
The extender
5 mg of TeaCrine™ (40% theacrine). Acts on the same adenosine and dopamine pathways as caffeine, but tapers gently, sustained, motivated focus that doesn’t end in a crash. Your body doesn’t build tolerance to it the way it does to caffeine.
The activator
25 mg as Dynamine™. Caffeine’s faster-acting cousin, hits in minutes and pairs with TeaCrine™ to keep focus going through the back half of the window without a crash.
02 · The measured curve

04 · Independent research
Outside the lab.
Our in-house data is one signal. Here’s another, from outside the lab: a peer-reviewed crossover study that tested essentially Roon’s combination, caffeine plus Dynamine™ and TeaCrine™, against caffeine alone, in a randomized, double-blind setup.
Cognitive performance · CDT vs caffeine alone
Side-effect profile · what didn’t happen
EEG signature · brain-activity changes
Reaction time and focus went up. The anxiety and headaches caffeine alone produced didn’t show up. Brain-activity patterns matched “staying in the zone”, more attention turned inward, more cognitive control.
What this study doesn’t tell us
- Study population was 50 adult male egamers, not gender-balanced, not large.
- Single-dose study. It did not measure chronic, daily use.
- L-theanine, the calming amino acid in Roon, was not part of the tested combination.
- Tested caffeine dose was 125 mg; Roon’s per-pouch dose is 80 mg.
05 · What we don’t know
A product is honest when it admits its edges.
Roon is designed for daily use. Because TeaCrine™ and Dynamine™ don’t build tolerance the way caffeine alone does, the formula is suited to a daily routine. We’re still gathering long-term data on consecutive months of use and will share what we learn.
Caffeine sensitivity varies. Start with one pouch to assess tolerance, and never stack pouches.
Cool Mint is the only flavor we’d ship. Anything else stays in development until it clears our internal taste panel.
We can share our full safety dossier on request. If you’re on prescription medication, talk to your prescribing clinician before adding Roon.
