Dunkin Caffeine Content by Drink and Size

A medium Dunkin hot coffee (14 oz) has about 210 mg of caffeine, a medium iced coffee (24 oz) about 297 mg, and a large iced coffee (32 oz) about 396 mg, the highest caffeine content on the regular menu. Dunkin does not print caffeine on its menu or in its Nutrition Guide, so every number you see online is a third-party estimate. Treat them accordingly.

Where these numbers come from

Dunkin's own Nutrition Guide (last updated 09-21-2026) lists calories, fats, sodium, sugars, and protein. It has no caffeine column at all. Caffeine Informer attributes its brewed-coffee figures to Dunkin customer service and Dunkin's website. Refresher numbers come from Tasting Table (Feb 2025), and the bottled iced coffee figure is printed on the retail label. Two Caffeine Informer pages disagree on the small and large hot coffee totals, so the chart shows both as a range.

A note on who wrote this: Roon sells a caffeine pouch, and you will find links to it further down. Each Dunkin figure here links to the page it came from, so you can check it yourself.

How much caffeine is in a Dunkin iced coffee?

About 198 mg in a small (16 oz), 297 mg in a medium (24 oz), and 396 mg in a large (32 oz), per Caffeine Informer. Chowhound reports the large at 392 mg, close but not identical. Either way, a large Dunkin iced coffee accounts for roughly 99% of the FDA's 400 mg daily figure for healthy adults.

Why does iced run so high? Iced cups are bigger than hot cups. A "medium" iced is 24 oz; a "medium" hot is 14 oz. Even though the concentration is lower per ounce (about 12.4 mg/oz for iced vs. 15.0 mg/oz for hot), the total per cup is higher because you are drinking more liquid.

How much caffeine is in Dunkin cold brew?

Caffeine Informer lists 174 mg (small), 260 mg (medium), and 347 mg (large) for Dunkin cold brew. Dunkin's own cold brew menu page shows 5 calories and no caffeine figure at all.

Per ounce, cold brew comes in at about 10.8 mg/oz by these estimates, compared to 12.4 mg/oz for iced coffee. The sources use different estimation methods, though, so claiming cold brew is definitively "weaker" from third-party numbers alone would overstate the data. For a broader look at cold brew across chains, see our cold brew caffeine content breakdown.

Dunkin espresso drinks: lattes, cappuccinos, americanos

A single Dunkin espresso shot contains about 118 mg of caffeine, per Caffeine Informer. Like the rest of the chart, that is an estimate, not a Dunkin figure.

From there, the drink format determines how many shots go in:

  • Latte or cappuccino: 118 mg (small), 166 mg (medium), 252 mg (large)
  • Americano or macchiato: 237 mg (small), 284 mg (medium), 371 mg (large)

Adding milk changes volume and calories, not caffeine. An iced latte has the same caffeine as a hot latte of the same size. For more on espresso dosing, see how much caffeine is in a shot of espresso.

Does Dunkin hot chocolate have caffeine?

Yes, but not much. A medium Dunkin hot chocolate has about 13 mg of caffeine, all from cocoa. The full range is 9 mg (small) to 19 mg (extra large). That is negligible next to brewed coffee but still worth noting if you are tracking intake closely or ordering for a child.

Dunkaccino, which blends coffee and hot chocolate, lands higher: 58 mg (small), 85 mg (medium), 119 mg (large), 129 mg (extra large).

Decaf is not zero either. Hot decaf coffee runs about 7 mg (small) to 18 mg (extra large).

Refreshers, tea, and energy drinks

Dunkin Refreshers contain 66 mg (small), 99 mg (medium), and 132 mg (large) of caffeine, sourced from green tea (Tasting Table, Feb 2025). For the full Refresher breakdown by flavor, see Do Dunkin Refreshers have caffeine?

Other tea-based drinks by size:

  • Iced tea: 45 / 67 / 90 mg
  • Iced green tea: 42 / 64 / 91 mg
  • Chai latte: 54 / 80 / 107 mg

SPARKD Energy was listed on Dunkin's site at launch in February 2024 with 96 / 144 / 192 mg and Dunkin's own disclaimer that these were "an approximate value based on our standard brewing/steeping procedures and limited analytical data" (TND, Feb 22, 2024). As of Oct 2026, SPARKD Energy no longer appears in Dunkin's menu sitemap.

Rockstar Energy Punch and Sour Apple Energy are on the current menu, but Dunkin publishes no caffeine figure for either.

Dunkin at the grocery store

Two Dunkin products carry printed caffeine numbers:

  • Bottled Original Iced Coffee & Milk (13.7 fl oz): 197 mg per bottle (Hannaford retail label). That is 14.4 mg per ounce, close to the in-store medium hot coffee.
  • Refreshers Singles To Go sticks: 80 mg each, from green tea (Dunkin newsroom, May 12, 2026). Each sugar-free stick mixes with 16.9 oz of water.

How much Dunkin is too much?

The FDA sets 400 mg a day for most healthy adults, which it describes as "about two to three 12-fluid-ounce cups of coffee." One large Dunkin iced coffee (about 396 mg) nearly covers that number alone. Toxic effects, including seizures, can appear with rapid consumption of around 1,200 mg.

If you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding, the FDA advises talking to your healthcare provider about caffeine. The agency also notes that medical experts advise against energy drinks for children and teens. Count every source of caffeine in your day, not just Dunkin.

For a deeper look, see how much caffeine is too much.

Timing a Dunkin run around sleep

Caffeine's half-life varies by individual but is commonly cited at several hours, meaning a late-afternoon large iced coffee could still be circulating well past midnight. For the detailed pharmacokinetics, see how long does caffeine last. The practical rule: finish your last caffeinated Dunkin order well before bedtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most caffeinated drink at Dunkin?

The large iced coffee (32 oz) at about 396 mg, per Caffeine Informer. Chowhound puts it at 392 mg. Either figure is just short of the FDA's 400 mg daily guideline for healthy adults, so a single large iced coffee essentially uses your entire day's budget from one order.

Does Dunkin decaf have caffeine?

Yes. Decaf is not caffeine-free. Dunkin's hot decaf runs about 7 mg (small) to 18 mg (extra large), per Caffeine Informer. That is a small fraction of regular coffee, but if you are avoiding caffeine entirely for medical reasons, it is not zero.

Is Dunkin coffee stronger than Starbucks?

It depends on the metric. A Dunkin medium hot coffee is about 210 mg in 14 oz, which works out to 15.0 mg per ounce. A Starbucks Grande Pike Place Roast is about 310 mg in 16 oz, or 19.4 mg per ounce, by Starbucks' own published figure. Per ounce, Starbucks is denser. Per order, the Starbucks Grande delivers more total caffeine (310 vs. 210 mg), though the serving sizes are not identical. For the full Starbucks chart, see our Starbucks caffeine content page.

Why doesn't Dunkin list caffeine on its menu?

Dunkin does not say. When it did post numbers, as at the 2024 SPARKD Energy launch reported by TND, it called them "an approximate value based on our standard brewing/steeping procedures and limited analytical data." The current Nutrition Guide (updated 09-21-2026) simply has no caffeine column.

Pick Your Dose, Not Your Cup Size

Dunkin sells caffeine by the ounce, and no number appears on the cup. A large iced coffee loads about 396 mg into one order with no label telling you so. If you prefer to know exactly what you are taking in, Roon prints every active on the tin: 80 mg caffeine, 60 mg L-theanine, 25 mg methylliberine (Dynamine), and 5 mg theacrine (TeaCrine) per pouch, placed under the lip.

The 80 mg dose is deliberate. Methylliberine slows caffeine clearance: in a randomized, double-blind crossover PK study (n = 12), co-administration extended caffeine's half-life from 7.2 to 15 hours with no increase in peak concentration (Journal of Exercise and Nutrition), and oral clearance fell from 41.9 to 17.1 L/hr. That study used 100 mg methylliberine and 150 mg caffeine, roughly 4x the methylliberine and 1.9x the caffeine in one Roon pouch, so the direction of the effect applies but the exact numbers do not. A longer half-life is not the same as longer felt energy: one pouch is meant to carry you for roughly six to eight hours, so leave at least 8 hours between your last pouch and sleep.

Need more than 80 mg? Add a second pouch (160 mg total) rather than jumping to a bigger cup, and stop at 4 pouches a day and 400 mg from every source combined. Roon costs from $9.16 per tin on a 12-tin subscription, and your first order carries a 30-day money-back guarantee (one per customer, nothing to return).
