The other 14 flavors, including Root Beer, Cream Soda, and every fruit flavor, list no caffeine on Poppi's product pages (checked September 19, 2026).
Which Poppi Flavors Have Caffeine?

Watch out for variety packs. The Classics pack holds Classic Cola, Doc Pop, Root Beer, and Lemon Lime (three cans each). Two of those flavors have caffeine, two do not. Check the individual can, not the box. If a flavor is not in this table, it may be a limited release; read the can or check drinkpoppi.com.

How Much Caffeine Is in Poppi vs. Coke, Coffee, and Olipop?
A caffeinated Poppi ranges from Coca-Cola territory to just above a Diet Coke, with roughly a third to a little over half the caffeine in a small brewed coffee.

|---|---|---|---|
| Poppi Classic Cola / Doc Pop / Cherry Cola | 12 fl oz can | 40 mg | 3.3 |
| Poppi Alpine Blast | 12 fl oz can | 55 mg | 4.6 |

The 40 mg cola flavors have slightly more caffeine than a can of Coke and less than half a small coffee. Alpine Blast, at 55 mg, sits above Diet Coke but still well below a full cup.
Does Poppi Classic Cola Have Caffeine?
Yes. Classic Cola contains 40 mg of natural caffeine per 12 fl oz can (product page). Doc Pop and Cherry Cola carry the same 40 mg.
You may still see 32 mg quoted on third-party sites. That figure is outdated. Poppi's current pages all list 40 mg, and the brand has not publicly explained the change. For how Doc Pop compares to the original, see our Dr Pepper caffeine breakdown.
How Much Caffeine Is in Poppi Alpine Blast?
Alpine Blast has 55 mg of natural caffeine per 12 fl oz can, making it the most caffeinated Poppi in the current lineup. That is about 4.6 mg per fl oz.
Poppi launched Alpine Blast in April 2025 as a permanent citrus flavor, and launch coverage reported the caffeine comes from coffee extract. At 55 mg, it sits between a Diet Coke (46 mg) and an Olipop Citrus Rush (60 mg).
Where Does the Caffeine in Poppi Come From?
All four caffeinated flavors list "Natural Caffeine" in the ingredients and nothing more. Poppi's product pages do not name a plant source for Classic Cola, Doc Pop, or Cherry Cola. Third-party sites often say green tea, but the brand does not confirm it.
For Alpine Blast, launch coverage identified coffee extract as the source. Either way, natural and synthetic caffeine are the same molecule (1,3,7-trimethylxanthine). The source does not change the dose.
Is Poppi Caffeine-Free for Kids, Pregnancy, and Late Nights?
The 14 caffeine-free flavors are straightforward. Pick any fruit flavor, Root Beer, Cream Soda, or Lemon Lime, and caffeine is not in play.
For the four caffeinated flavors, context matters:
- Adults. The FDA cites 400 mg per day as the amount not generally associated with dangerous negative effects for most healthy adults. A 40 mg Poppi is 10% of that ceiling. You would need 10 cans to reach it.
- Children. The FDA notes the Dietary Guidelines recommend against caffeinated drinks for children under 2, and the American Academy of Pediatrics discourages caffeine for children and adolescents. Poppi's caffeine-free flavors are the simpler pick.
- Pregnancy. The FDA advises pregnant people to talk to their health care provider about caffeine. A 40 mg can is well below 200 mg, a common clinical reference point, but the call belongs to your clinician, not a soda label.
- Late nights. A 40 mg can at dinner is a small dose, but it is not zero. Caffeine's half-life means roughly half of it is still circulating hours later. See our caffeine half-life explainer for the math.
If you have a heart condition or take medication that interacts with caffeine, talk to your prescriber before adding any caffeinated drink.
Is Poppi Good for You, or Bad for You?
Poppi is a lower-sugar soda, not a health supplement. Here is what the label says (using Cream Soda as a representative flavor, per the product page):
- 30 to 35 calories per can, depending on flavor
- 5 g total sugar (3 to 4 g added), 3 g dietary fiber from cassava root fiber and organic agave inulin
- Organic apple cider vinegar, stevia leaf extract, natural flavors
The American Heart Association caps daily added sugar at 25 g for women and 36 g for men. One can's 3 to 4 g is a small fraction. A regular full-sugar cola carries several times that per serving.
Then there is the lawsuit. A class action (Cobbs v. VNGR Beverage, filed May 29, 2024) alleged the prebiotic fiber per can was too little to deliver a meaningful gut benefit. The complaint cited roughly 2 g of prebiotic fiber; Poppi's product pages checked in September 2026 list 3 g of dietary fiber. Poppi agreed to an $8.9 million settlement in 2025 without admitting wrongdoing. (PepsiCo completed its acquisition of Poppi for $1.95 billion in May 2025.)
The honest read: Poppi is a low-sugar, low-calorie soda with some fiber. Judge it as a soda, not a gut-health product. For more lower-sugar caffeinated options, see our separate guide.
Poppi vs. Olipop: Which Has More Caffeine?
Olipop's caffeinated flavors run higher. Vintage Cola, Cherry Cola, and Doctor Goodwin contain 50 mg per 12 fl oz can, and Citrus Rush contains 60 mg. Poppi's caffeinated flavors range from 40 to 55 mg. Both brands keep the majority of their lineups caffeine-free.
For a full flavor-by-flavor check of the other prebiotic soda brand, see our Olipop caffeine breakdown.
The Short Version for the Soda Aisle
Four Poppi flavors have caffeine: Classic Cola, Doc Pop, and Cherry Cola at 40 mg, Alpine Blast at 55 mg. The other 14 list none. If you grab a variety pack, check each can because the same box can hold both. A caffeinated Poppi is in Coca-Cola territory, nowhere near coffee. The caffeine-free flavors are exactly that.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Poppi Root Beer have caffeine?
No. Poppi Root Beer lists no caffeine in its ingredients on drinkpoppi.com, which is typical for root beer. For a broader look, see our guide on which root beers have caffeine.
Does Poppi Doc Pop have caffeine?
Yes. Doc Pop contains 40 mg of natural caffeine per 12 fl oz can, per the brand's product page. That is about 3.3 mg per fl oz, slightly more than a Coca-Cola (2.8 mg per fl oz) and less than a Diet Coke (3.8 mg per fl oz).
Does Poppi Cherry Cola have caffeine?
Yes. Cherry Cola contains 40 mg of natural caffeine per 12 fl oz can, per the product page. It matches Classic Cola and Doc Pop in caffeine content.
Which Poppi flavor has the most caffeine?
Alpine Blast, at 55 mg per 12 fl oz can. It is the only Poppi flavor above 40 mg. The caffeine is sourced from coffee extract, according to launch coverage from April 2025.
Is Poppi okay to drink at night?
The 14 caffeine-free flavors are fine any time. The four caffeinated ones (40 to 55 mg) carry a small but real dose. Caffeine's half-life is roughly 5 hours, so about 20 mg could still be circulating hours after a can at dinner. Stick to fruit flavors at night, or see our caffeine half-life guide for the math.
Does Poppi have more caffeine than Coke?
The cola flavors do. Poppi Classic Cola, Doc Pop, and Cherry Cola have 40 mg per 12 fl oz versus Coca-Cola's 34 mg. Alpine Blast has even more at 55 mg. Diet Coke, at 46 mg per 12 fl oz, beats the cola flavors but not Alpine Blast (55 mg).
When a 40 mg Cola Is Not the Caffeine You Were Looking For
If you came here hoping a Poppi cola could replace your afternoon coffee, the numbers tell a different story. At 40 mg, Classic Cola delivers less than half of what a small brewed coffee gives you, and it is gone quickly.
Roon was built for sustained focus, not a soda break. Each pouch pairs 80 mg caffeine with 60 mg L-theanine, 25 mg methylliberine (Dynamine), and 5 mg theacrine (TeaCrine) in a zero-sugar sublingual format (it does contain sucralose). Onset is 5 to 10 minutes; the felt window runs 6 to 8 hours. That duration comes from methylliberine slowing caffeine's clearance. A randomized, double-blind, crossover PK study (n=12) found co-administration cut caffeine's oral clearance from 41.9 to 17.1 L/hr and extended its half-life from 7.2 to 15 hours, with no increase in peak concentration. That study used 100 mg methylliberine + 150 mg caffeine (roughly 4x and 1.9x Roon's doses), so the exact magnitude will differ at 25 mg + 80 mg, but the mechanism is directionally the same. The trade-off: stop at least 8 hours before bed.
Subscriptions start at $9.16 per tin (15 pouches, $0.61 each). One-time is $15.00 per tin for a 4-tin box. Keep the Poppi for taste. Get the caffeine from something built for duration.
