50 mg Nicotine Pouches Are mg per Gram, Not per Pouch

Key Takeaways

  • On 50mg nicotine pouches, "50 mg" means 50 mg of nicotine per gram of pouch.
  • Retailer specs put Pablo Exclusive at 30 mg and DOPE #50 at 35 mg per pouch.
  • The strongest FDA-authorized pouch is ZYN Ultra Smooth at 11 mg.
  • Nausea, vomiting, sweating or tremor can signal nicotine poisoning: call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

A "50 mg" nicotine pouch is labeled by concentration: 50 mg of nicotine per gram of pouch material. Retailer specs put Pablo Exclusive 50 mg at 30 mg per 0.6 g pouch and DOPE #50 at 35 mg per 0.7 g pouch, roughly 5 to 6 times a standard 6 mg ZYN. Neither product appears on the FDA's authorized list, which tops out at 11 mg.

Source: Snusdaddy and DOPE #50 product specs (one-can USD prices from snusdaddy.com); ZYN prices from Northerner (USD); all checked Oct 2026. Pablo and DOPE prices are retailer-listed; neither brand publishes an MSRP. mg/pouch = mg/g × pouch weight.

How we compared: Retailer product specs, not lab data. Roon did not purchase or test any of these products. Roon makes a competing nicotine-free caffeine pouch and this page links to it.

Are There Pouches With 50 mg in Each Pouch?

No label we found prints "50 mg per pouch." The highest per-pouch figure among the two 50 mg/g products is DOPE #50 at 35 mg.

Lab data push higher, though. A 2024 analysis by Germany's Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) tested 44 nicotine pouches and 2 nicotine-free pouches bought on the German market and measured 1.79 to 47.5 mg of nicotine per pouch (Mallock et al., Tobacco Control 2024;33:193-199). The authors also found that 29 of the 46 products had no clear nicotine label. Which product hit 47.5 mg is not named in the abstract.

How 30 to 35 mg Compares With US Pouches

ZYN strengths run 1.5 to 8 mg. ZYN Ultra reaches 9 and 11 mg. The FDA's authorized list caps at ZYN Ultra Smooth 11 mg (authorized August 21, 2026).

  • Pablo Exclusive 30 mg = 5.0× a 6 mg ZYN, 2.7× the FDA ceiling. One can (20 pouches) = 600 mg.
  • DOPE #50 at 35 mg = 5.8× a 6 mg ZYN, 3.2× the FDA ceiling. One can (22 pouches) = 770 mg.

Pablo's own site lists strengths from 3 to 24 mg; the "Exclusive" 50 mg/g line is not in that catalog and shows up at European retailers instead, where Snusdaddy lists its producer as N.G.P Europe OÜ. See the full nicotine pouch strength ranking.

What Can Happen With a Pouch That Strong?

Poison Control lists symptoms from excess nicotine: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, drooling, sweating, tremor, and muscle weakness, with heart rate and blood pressure rising first and then falling. America's Poison Centers names trouble breathing, loss of consciousness and seizures as signs of severe poisoning.

For scale: Poison Control describes a 21-year-old who used 15 extra-strength pouches of 10.9 mg each over 12 hours and needed medical care; he "returned to baseline within 24 hours and was discharged." Each of those pouches held roughly a third of the nicotine in one Pablo Exclusive. The Mallock authors called the nicotine contents of some pouches "alarmingly high." America's Poison Centers reported that pouch exposure cases rose 202% from 2022 to 2024, and warns that even one swallowed pouch can be dangerous for a child.

One data gap: a 2020 PK study (Lunell et al., industry co-authored) found ZYN 6 mg released about 3.5 mg in the mouth. No published extraction data exist for 50 mg/g pouches, so there is no reliable way to say how much of a 30 or 35 mg pouch reaches the blood.

If You Feel Sick After a Strong Pouch

Remove the pouch immediately. Call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 (free, 24/7). Call 911 for trouble breathing, seizures, or fainting. Keep cans away from children and pets; one swallowed pouch can poison a small child (America's Poison Centers).

Who should avoid nicotine pouches entirely: anyone under 21, anyone who is pregnant, people with heart disease, and anyone not already using nicotine. The CDC notes nicotine harms brain development until about age 25 and is toxic to developing fetuses.

Are 50 mg Pouches Legal?

In the US, no 50 mg/g pouch has an FDA marketing order. The FDA's 67 authorized nicotine pouches (as of Oct 30, 2026) include only ZYN, ZYN Ultra, on!, on! PLUS and Velo Mini Pouch products, maxing out at 11 mg. The FDA notes authorization "does not mean these products are safe."

  • France: Decree No. 2025-898 banned oral nicotine products, including pouches, from April 1, 2026, covering use, purchase, possession and sale. A judge suspended the decree's manufacture, production and export provisions pending a ruling.
  • Belgium: Pouches have been banned since October 2023. A 2024 check found 318 of 1,781 shops still selling them; fines usually range from €208 to €120,000.

Why "50 mg" Labels Confuse Buyers

Some brands label by concentration (mg/g), others by total nicotine per pouch. There is no universal standard. The BfR analysis found 29 of 46 products lacked clear nicotine labeling entirely. Even Snusdaddy files its 30 mg+ products under a strength tier labeled "Don't Go There." For the full comparison, see the nicotine pouch strength ranking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a 50 mg ZYN?

No. ZYN's US lineup tops out at 11 mg (ZYN Ultra). Standard ZYN comes in 1.5, 3, 6, and 8 mg. The "50 mg" products, Pablo Exclusive and DOPE #50, are sold through European retailers. See ZYN Strengths Explained for a full breakdown.

How much nicotine is in a Pablo 50 mg?

30 mg per pouch, per retailer specs. The "50 mg" on the can is a concentration: 50 mg per gram. Each slim pouch weighs 0.6 g, so 50 × 0.6 = 30 mg actual nicotine.

Can you buy 50 mg pouches in the US?

No 50 mg/g pouch has an FDA marketing order, and none appears on FDA's list of 67 authorized nicotine pouches (as of Oct 30, 2026), which max out at 11 mg. Authorization also does not mean a product is safe.

Is 50 mg of nicotine dangerous?

Yes, poisoning is possible; the Poison Control case above involved pouches of 10.9 mg. Symptoms range from nausea and tremor to seizures and loss of consciousness. Call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately if you suspect poisoning. See also What Happens If You Swallow a ZYN.

Are high-strength pouches a way to quit smoking?

No. The CDC states the FDA has not approved any nicotine pouch as a cessation aid. For free coaching over the phone, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW.

Zero Milligrams of Nicotine, by Design

Every product on this page delivers nicotine. Roon delivers zero. Roon carries caffeine instead, and it is not a nicotine replacement therapy.

What you get instead is duration. Each pouch combines 80 mg caffeine with 25 mg methylliberine (Dynamine), which slows caffeine clearance. A randomized crossover study (n=12) found methylliberine extended caffeine's half-life from 7.2 to 15 hours with no higher peak (study), though that trial dosed 100 mg methylliberine and 150 mg caffeine (about 4× and 1.9× Roon's amounts), so the mechanism applies directionally, not at the study's exact magnitude. A 15-hour half-life is not 15 hours of felt energy; a single Roon pouch is built for roughly 6 to 8 hours. It moves in 80 mg steps: take two at once for 160 mg if you want, stop at four a day, and keep total caffeine from all sources within FDA's 400 mg figure. Allow eight hours before bed.

If you would rather keep the pouch in your day and leave the milligram math behind, Roon costs from $9.16 per tin.
