It is not on FDA's authorized nicotine pouch list (current as of Aug 21, 2026). ZYN Ultra, a separate moist line, goes to 9 and 11 mg.

Strengths and counts from zyn.com and the ZYN FAQ, authorization status from FDA's list, prices from Northerner, all checked October 17, 2026. Nicotine per can = mg per pouch × pouches per can. Northerner single-can list prices; some SKUs showed out of stock on Oct 17.
Where these numbers come from: Every figure above was pulled from zyn.com product pages, the ZYN FAQ, FDA's authorized-pouch list, and Northerner retailer listings. Computed columns used those inputs directly. We did not physically test or lab-analyze any of these products. Roon sells a nicotine-free caffeine pouch, and this page links to it; each figure above traces back to a ZYN, FDA or retailer page you can check yourself.
Which Flavors Does ZYN 8 mg Come In?
ZYN 8 mg ships in eight flavors: Chill, Citrus, Cool Mint, Menthol, Peppermint, Smooth, Spearmint and Wintergreen (checked Oct 17, 2026 on zyn.com). Chill and Smooth are unflavored per ZYN's FAQ. Cinnamon and Coffee exist at 3 and 6 mg but not 8 mg. The three newest flavors, Black Cherry, Peach and Dragonberry, are 3 and 6 mg only. For the full flavor-by-strength grid, see all ZYN strengths explained.
Is ZYN 8 mg FDA Authorized?
Not as of October 17, 2026. FDA's list, current as of Aug 21, 2026, contains no ZYN 8 mg product. The 20 classic ZYN authorizations from January 16, 2025 cover 3 and 6 mg only, and FDA noted those orders "do not apply to any other nicotine pouch or other ZYN products." Trade outlet 2Firsts reported the same gap in its October 2026 NACS show coverage.
FDA's list states these authorized products "are the only nicotine pouch products that may be lawfully sold in the United States." The agency also reminds that authorization "does not mean these tobacco products are safe, nor are they 'FDA approved.'" See the full FDA-authorized nicotine pouches list.
ZYN 8 mg vs 6 mg
Each 8 mg pouch carries 33% more labeled nicotine than 6 mg: 120 mg vs 90 mg per 15-pouch can. Both cost $4.49 at Northerner. The 8 mg portion weighs 0.53 g vs 0.4 g for 6 mg per Northerner specs.
Worth noting from FDA's Aug 21, 2026 release: "Nicotine exposure is influenced not only by a product's labeled nicotine content," because pouch design and materials also affect delivery. Labeled mg and nicotine absorbed are different measurements.
ZYN 8 mg vs ZYN Ultra 9 and 11 mg
ZYN Ultra uses a "hydro-boosted" moist format, packs 20 pouches per can, and comes in 9 and 11 mg (ZYN FAQ). The strongest ZYN product overall is Ultra 11 mg; 8 mg tops the classic line only. On the regulatory side, ten Ultra 9 mg products and Smooth 11 mg were authorized Aug 21, 2026. For a full breakdown, see ZYN Ultra review vs regular ZYN. Outside ZYN, VELO MAX also offers an approximately 8 mg strength with 20 pouches per can (VELO FAQ).
Pouches per Can and the Q4 Count Change
ZYN 8 mg cans hold 15 pouches. PMI's Sep 9 release said the 3 mg and 6 mg dry pouches will move to 20 per can in Q4 2026, but did not mention the 8 mg or 1.5 mg tiers. At $4.49 for 15, the per-pouch cost is $0.30. For the latest changes, see new ZYN flavors and releases.
Before Using a Higher-Strength Pouch
The CDC states: "Nicotine is a highly addictive chemical." Youth, young adults and women who are pregnant should not use nicotine pouches. ZYN is for adults 21 and older (ZYN FAQ), and the pouch should not be swallowed. If you have heart disease, are pregnant or take medication, talk to your clinician. Frequently Asked Questions
Is ZYN 8 mg the strongest ZYN?
No. ZYN Ultra 11 mg is the strongest across the full ZYN portfolio, with 11 mg of nicotine per moist pouch and 20 per can. ZYN 8 mg is the highest strength in the classic dry pouch line.
Is ZYN 8 mg dry or moist?
ZYN's site does not label the classic line "dry," but PMI's Sep 9, 2026 release uses "dry pouch" to distinguish it from Ultra's "hydro-boosted" moist format. Northerner's listing describes the 8 mg pouch as all-white.
Where can you buy ZYN 8 mg?
ZYN's product page says its pouches are available at a retailer near you and online at Nicokick.com. Retailer Northerner lists all eight 8 mg flavors. For local options, see ZYN near me.
Does ZYN 8 mg come in Cinnamon or Coffee?
No. As of October 17, 2026, Cinnamon and Coffee appear on zyn.com in 3 and 6 mg only. The same goes for Black Cherry, Peach and Dragonberry, which ZYN's FAQ confirms are 3 and 6 mg strengths.
Zero Nicotine, a Longer Afternoon
If you like the pouch format but want zero nicotine, Roon is a caffeine pouch designed around duration. Each pouch pairs 80 mg caffeine with 60 mg L-theanine, 25 mg methylliberine (Dynamine) and 5 mg theacrine (TeaCrine), and contains no nicotine.
The duration design has a pharmacokinetic basis. In a randomized, double-blind crossover study (n=12), methylliberine co-administered with caffeine cut caffeine's oral clearance from 41.9 to 17.1 L/hr and extended its half-life from 7.2 to 15 hours, with no increase in peak concentration (study). That study dosed 100 mg methylliberine with 150 mg caffeine, roughly 4x and 1.9x the amounts in a single Roon pouch, so the mechanism applies directionally, not as a direct measurement of Roon's effect. A 15-hour half-life is not 15 hours of felt energy; what a Roon pouch gives is closer to a 6 to 8 hour afternoon. Leave a gap of at least 8 hours between your last pouch and bedtime.
Roon has no nicotine in it and is not built to replace nicotine. If you're ready to quit nicotine pouches without losing the habit that works for you, try Roon. It runs from $9.16 per tin on the 12-tin subscription, as little as $0.61 per pouch.
