A standard ZYN can holds 15 pouches, according to ZYN's own FAQ. ZYN Ultra holds 20. That split is shifting: Philip Morris International told investors on September 8, 2026, and announced the next day, that the 3 mg and 6 mg dry cans move to 20 pouches per can during Q4 2026. The nicotine per pouch does not change. Check the count printed on whatever can you buy, because stores may stock both sizes for a while.

How these counts were checked
Counts come from zyn.com, PMI's SEC-filed investor slides, and PMI's September 9 press release. For 1.5 mg and 8 mg, zyn.com does not break out strength-specific counts, so we used Northerner retailer listings. Prices are single-can online list prices on the check date; per-pouch cost and total nicotine per can were computed from those inputs. We did not open, count, or use-test any of these products. Roon, which publishes this page, sells a nicotine-free caffeine pouch and links to it below; each count and price above links to the brand or retailer page it came from.
Why Are ZYN Cans Going from 15 to 20 Pouches?
PMI says it is aligning value across the ZYN range by moving 3 mg and 6 mg dry cans to 20 pouches, a size the company says adult consumers prefer. In its Barclays Global Consumer Conference slides filed September 8, 2026, PMI described the move as "aligning value proposition across ZYN portfolio." The next day, its U.S. press release called 20 pouches per can "a package size that research indicates is preferred by legal-age nicotine consumers."
ZYN Ultra already launched at 20 pouches per can with, per PMI's June 2 8-K, a lower list price per pouch than the 15-count dry cans. PMI has not published a price for the 20-count dry can.
Which ZYN Strengths Are Switching to 20 Pouches?

Across the wider market, 20 is the usual size: in a June 2024 scrape of 1,689 nicotine pouch products sold by four online stores shipping to the US, 1,205 came in 20-count cans and 458 in 15-count cans (Hardin et al., Nicotine & Tobacco Research, 2026).

Same Can Habit, No Nicotine
