Grizzly Nicotine Pouches Review: Strengths, Flavors, Price

Grizzly Nicotine Pouches Review: Strengths, Flavors, Price
Grizzly nicotine pouches are tobacco-leaf-free pouches from American Snuff Company, the Reynolds American unit behind Grizzly dip. They come in Wintergreen, Original, Mint and Southern at 6 to 15 mg nicotine, 20 pouches per can, about $5.89 a can online through Northerner and Nicokick. None holds FDA marketing authorization. If you want the pouch ritual without nicotine, Roon is an 80 mg caffeine pouch with zero nicotine.

Where These Numbers Come From
Every figure here comes from the Northerner and Nicokick product pages for Grizzly. Grizzly's own site (mygrizzly.com) returned a bot-check page and lists no specs or prices publicly. We compared published labels, prices and strengths. Nobody ran a lab assay on these pouches. One more thing to know: Roon sells a zero-nicotine caffeine pouch that competes for the same spot under the lip, and this review links to it. Each number below carries its source so you can check it.
What Strengths Do Grizzly Pouches Come In?
Grizzly nicotine pouches span 6 mg to 15 mg per pouch, depending on flavor. Wintergreen and Original ship in 6, 9, 12 and 15 mg. Mint and Southern are limited to 9 and 12 mg.
Northerner labels 9 mg "Strong" and 12 to 15 mg "Extra Strong." Those describe pouch content, not absorbed dose. ZYN's standard line tops out at 8 mg and ZYN Ultra at 11 mg, so Grizzly's 15 mg sits above any ZYN pouch. See the Grizzly vs. ZYN comparison.
Grizzly Flavors
- Wintergreen (6, 9, 12, 15 mg): full-bodied wintergreen, Grizzly's bestseller at Northerner.
- Original (6, 9, 12, 15 mg): a tobacco-style flavor, no actual tobacco leaf.
- Mint (9, 12 mg): a cooler, cleaner mint.
- Southern (9, 12 mg): Northerner's product cards label it "Watermelon," though the description calls it "slightly sweeter." Branding and shelf tag do not fully agree.
Grizzly also sells Mixpacks ($16.95 each): the 9 mg version bundles Mint, Watermelon and Wintergreen, and the 12 mg listing does not state its pouch count. Compared to ZYN's 13 flavors or VELO Plus's 11, the selection is narrow, leaning on traditional smokeless-tobacco tastes.
Are Grizzly Pouches Tobacco Free?
Yes, no tobacco leaf. Both retailers confirm the range uses synthetic nicotine. Nicokick notes that "Grizzly nicotine pouches recently made the transition from plant-derived nicotine to synthetic nicotine."
"Tobacco free" on a label means no leaf in the pouch. It does not exempt the product from FDA tobacco authority, which covers nicotine from any source. For background on pouches vs. traditional smokeless, see ZYN vs. Grizzly.
Who Makes Grizzly Pouches?
American Snuff Company, a Reynolds American subsidiary. Reynolds is British American Tobacco's US business, which also owns VELO. Reynolds American launched Grizzly pouches in June 2024, according to the trade outlet Tobacco Insider. Full ownership map: who owns nicotine pouch brands.
Are Grizzly Pouches FDA Authorized?
No. The FDA's authorized nicotine pouch list (current August 21, 2026) covers 43 products from ZYN, ZYN Ultra, on! and on! PLUS. Grizzly is not on it. Neither is VELO. A product can still be sold while its PMTA is under review, but it has not received an FDA marketing order. See the complete FDA-authorized list.
What Buyers Say
Northerner's Grizzly Wintergreen 9 mg page shows 20 reviews averaging 4.5 out of 5 (checked Oct 24, 2026). Treat that as one retailer's star average for one flavor and strength, not a survey of Grizzly users. Twenty reviews is a small sample, the reviewers are buyers who chose to come back and rate, and the score says nothing about the Mint, Original or Southern cans. We are not quoting individual reviews here because we cannot link each one directly. If ratings matter to you, read the newest reviews on the page for the exact can you plan to buy.
Grizzly Price per Pouch, 1 Can to 50
| Cans | Total | Per Can | Per Pouch |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $5.89 | $5.89 | $0.295 |
| 5 | $28.25 | $5.65 | $0.283 |
| 10 | $54.50 | $5.45 | $0.273 |
| 25 | $125.00 | $5.00 | $0.250 |
| 50 | $215.00 | $4.30 | $0.215 |
Source: Northerner's Grizzly page, checked Oct 24, 2026; every single-flavor can listed there showed these tiers, and Nicokick showed the same tiers for the base cans. Per pouch = per can / 20. Mixpacks ($16.95) are priced outside the tiers.
Bought one can at a time, Grizzly works out to $0.295 a pouch, more than VELO Plus ($0.225 at Northerner) and sits close to ZYN ($0.299 for 15 pouches at $4.49). The 20-pouch can gives more volume per purchase than ZYN's 15, but per-pouch they nearly converge.
Who Should Not Use Grizzly Pouches
Nicotine is addictive. The FDA calls it "a highly addictive chemical compound." Federal Tobacco 21 sets the minimum purchase age at 21. Grizzly pouches are not for pregnant people, because the FDA notes nicotine can cross the placenta, and anyone with heart conditions should consult a clinician before using any nicotine product. Keep cans away from children and pets.
Pick Grizzly If...
- You want the Grizzly name without the leaf: familiar flavors, spit-free format, a 15 mg ceiling.
- Per-pouch cost matters most: pick VELO Plus ($0.225/pouch, single can at Northerner).
- You want the lip ritual with zero nicotine: Roon is a caffeine pouch, no nicotine, from $9.16 per tin. Different category, same physical habit.
A Dip Brand, Rebuilt Without the Leaf
Grizzly's pouch line brings a dip-legacy name into the leaf-free format. The standard flavor range is narrower than ZYN or VELO, but it covers a 6 to 15 mg window with 20 pouches per can at a mid-range price. None holds FDA marketing authorization, which places Grizzly alongside VELO and most non-ZYN brands. If you trust the name and want wintergreen or tobacco-style flavor without the leaf, this is what the can delivers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Grizzly pouches stronger than ZYN?
Grizzly's highest pouch is 15 mg (Wintergreen and Original). ZYN standard reaches 8 mg; ZYN Ultra tops at 11 mg. On paper, Grizzly has the higher ceiling. Nicokick adds that perceived strength varies with flavor, moisture and personal tolerance. See the ZYN vs. Grizzly comparison.
How many pouches are in a can of Grizzly?
Every Grizzly nicotine pouch can holds 20 pouches, per Northerner and Nicokick. That matches VELO Plus and ZYN Ultra (both 20), and is five more than standard ZYN's 15.
Do Grizzly pouches have caffeine?
No caffeine appears on any Grizzly product page at Northerner or Nicokick. Those pages describe the pouches only as tobacco-free and made with synthetic nicotine; neither publishes a full ingredient list. For caffeine in pouch form, see caffeine pouches vs. nicotine pouches.
Where can you buy Grizzly pouches online?
Northerner and Nicokick both carry the full lineup with 21+ age verification. Grizzly's own site showed a bot-check page when we tried it, so we could not confirm whether it sells direct.
Is Grizzly Southern watermelon?
Grizzly names the flavor "Southern." Northerner's product card tags it "Watermelon," while the description says "slightly sweeter." The branding and shelf label do not fully agree, but shoppers looking for a sweet, fruit-adjacent pouch will find it under the Southern name.
Same Lip, No Nicotine
If you landed here weighing nicotine pouches but keep wondering whether you need the nicotine at all, consider what the habit actually gives you. For a lot of pouch users, the answer is the physical anchor: something under the lip, a signal to focus.
Roon fills that slot with zero nicotine. Each pouch pairs 80 mg caffeine with 60 mg L-theanine, 25 mg methylliberine (Dynamine) and 5 mg theacrine (TeaCrine), placed under the lip. Methylliberine slows caffeine clearance: in a randomized crossover PK study (n=12), caffeine's half-life rose from 7.2 to 15 hours, and oral clearance fell from 41.9 to 17.1 L/hr, with no higher peak when paired with methylliberine. That study dosed 100 mg methylliberine plus 150 mg caffeine, about 4x and 1.9x a single Roon pouch, so the mechanism points the same direction but the magnitude is not one-to-one. A 15-hour half-life does not mean 15 hours of felt energy; a Roon pouch is built for a lift of roughly six to eight hours. Finish your last pouch at least 8 hours before bed, cap your day at 4 pouches, and stay under 400 mg total caffeine from all sources.
Roon costs from $9.16 per tin on a 12-tin subscription (as little as $0.61 per pouch), with a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first order. Try Roon.
